In this role, you will plan and execute high-impact recruitment events, coach and support a part-time seasonal recruitment team, and actively sell the Girl Scout mission to prospective members. This position is ideal for a self-motivated, outgoing, and enthusiastic individual who is excited to meet and exceed membership goals while supporting a team to do the same.
Position Description:
The Lead Membership Specialist is at the forefront of Girl Scout recruitment, connecting families, schools, and community organizations to our mission. In this high-energy, goal-oriented role, you’ll plan, promote, and organize recruitment events, working closely with schools and community partners to introduce future Girl Scouts and their families to the Girl Scout experience. You’ll also hire, train, and lead a team of part-time seasonal recruiters, ensuring they have the tools and motivation to sell the Girl Scout opportunity and meet membership goals. By championing engaging, persuasive, diverse recruitment efforts, you will play a critical role in expanding our Girl Scout community and helping girls discover new opportunities.
This position can be based out of our Albany or Queensbury office. Occasional hybrid work options are available, depending upon the season and the workflow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and advertise high-impact recruitment events to showcase the Girl Scout experience, attracting both girls and volunteers.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a seasonal recruitment team, ensuring they are trained to effectively communicate and sell the Girl Scout experience at recruitment events.
- Monitor and analyze recruitment data, providing accurate reports on potential members, community partners, and event outcomes.
- Build and nurture strong partnerships with schools, community groups, and organizations, confidently engaging in cold calls and pitching Girl Scouts as a valuable partner.
- Establish rapport with customers quickly, utilizing strong communication skills through phone calls, emails, and in-person conversations.
- Develop and implement a consistent, repeatable process for recruitment efforts to ensure dependable outcomes and increased success.
- Provide direct recruitment support during peak seasons, actively engaging with girls and adults to promote Girl Scouts and inspire sign-ups.
- Attend evening/weekend events as needed to support peek recruitment seasons or coverage of events due to call-outs. Infrequent additional travel and evenings/weekends based on Council staff wide events though out the year, including but not limited to Cookie Pick Up, All Staff development events, etc. Council vehicles are available for staff use at Council events.

- Fluent in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Salesforce or Looker is a plus.
- Availability to regularly work outside of traditional Monday-Friday 9-5 hours for support of part-time seasonal staff when at events, including but not limited to last minute coverage for staff call outs or on-site supervision.
- Maintain certification in emergency first aid and CPR, trainings provided by GSNENY.
- Possess and maintain a valid New York State driver's license.
- Must be able to work both in an office setting and independently.
Physical Requirements
- Working on a computer screen for long periods of time.
- Working with phone systems for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift 10 to 20lbs. on occasion.
- Ability to traverse through an office environment and occasional outdoor/camp environment.
- Communicate in outdoor and sometimes noisy environments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
