What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property Specialist position at Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York?
PURPOSE: To assist in all the areas of camp including property and maintenance areas in compliance with GSUSA, NYDOH, OSHA and ACA standards and regulations. The Property Specialist is responsible for ensuring the usability, the safety, and security of their assigned properties (camps in Albany, Lake George, Saranac Lake, and Queensbury areas), including the grounds, facilities, and equipment, by carrying out maintenance activities as defined below:
Major Accountabilities:
Carry out all maintenance necessary for the operating of campgrounds, facilities, and equipment.
Ensures that all maintenance requirements of the NYS Department of Health are carried out.
Maintains the water system and tests the water as directed.
Mows lawns, removes snow, splits firewood, and ensures clean facilities for camp rentals, etc.
May be occasional overnight stays at Lake Clear Camp to assist with organization rentals.
Coordinates regularly with the Director of Properties and Facilities during resident camping sessions regarding immediate maintenance.
Fulfills other duties as assigned by the Director of Properties and Facilities.
All employees can play a more active role in Fund Development and Membership by being alert to opportunities to identify potential new donors and volunteers.
Physical Requirements:
Exchanging information in sometimes noisy environments.
Regularly traversing uneven terrain for various duties.
Moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Identification of details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
Regular operation of maintenance machinery for hours at a time.
Regular work outdoors, in all weather conditions
Qualifications:
HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
Must be at least 18 years old. Preferred 21 years or older.
Minimum 2 years property maintenance experience preferred, will train the right individuals.
Ability and knowledge to operate equipment (riding lawnmower, string trimmer, chainsaw, etc.)
Background checks will be conducted.
Ability to analyze and evaluate maintenance needs, and use sound, mature judgement when making decisions.
Possess current valid driver's license and vehicle ability.
Willingness to abide by the policies and practices of the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York, Inc.
Health and stamina necessary to work in an outdoor, camp setting.
Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, able to work independently.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule (including occasional evenings and weekends) and travel primarily throughout the Council's geographic area. GSNENY has Council-owned owned transportation for use while on duty.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
