Health Care Director
The Health Care Specialist at Camp Alice Pittenger plays a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of our summer camp program.
Responsibilities:
- Implement health care policies and procedures, aligning with American Camp Association accreditation standards.
- Making key decisions regarding camp operations, including responding to emergencies or crises, in collaboration with the Camp Director.
- Monitoring local health department, CDC, American Camp Association, and Girl Scouts of the USA health and safety guidance, updating health care procedures accordingly.
- Overseeing the Communicable Disease Plan implementation.
- Providing training on health care policies and procedures to all staff.
- Attending to ill and injured campers and staff.
- Managing camper medications, including receipt, storage, dispensing, and return to parents.
- Maintaining medical records using Camp Doc's software.
- Communicating with parents/guardians regarding camper health issues.
- Completing incident reports as necessary.
- Maintaining necessary medical supplies, including first aid kits.
Requirements:
- 21 years old or older.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Certified Nursing Assistant certification or higher (Registered Nurse certification preferred).
- Able to administer medications.
- Responsible, dependable, and comfortable living in a rustic camp environment with limited access to cell phone service and internet.
Priorities:
- Commitment to adhering to strict health and safety protocols.
- Experience with the Girl Scout program is an asset.
- Membership in the Association of Camp Nursing is beneficial.
- Willingness to work long hours independently and ask for assistance when needed.
