Job Summary:
The MESH Specialist will be responsible for administering oversight for the mental, emotional, and social health care needs of our summer camp program. Working closely with the CDC, American Camp Association, Girl Scouts of the USA, and local health districts, the successful candidate will help ensure that all necessary precautions are taken to keep everyone healthy and safe.
Responsibilities:
- Play a leadership role in planning and implementing staff training and ongoing learning related to mental, emotional, and social health.
- Collaborate with the Camp Director and Health Care Specialist to make key decisions about camp operations, including responding to emergencies or crises.
- Serve as a resource to campers and staff throughout the summer, providing guidance and support in facing mental, emotional, and social health challenges.
- Manage information about camper needs, communicate those to staff, and document communication and plans as appropriate.
- Provide counseling and interventions to campers and staff as needed.
- Maintain medical records, including medications given to campers and first aid care provided.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding camper mental, emotional, and social health issues as appropriate.
- Complete incident reports as required.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Supervisory experience is required.
- A bachelor's degree in a mental health or social services field is mandatory; a master's degree is preferred.
- Ability to administer medications is a plus.
- Responsible and dependable individuals who enjoy working with children are encouraged to apply.
- A willingness to work long hours and live in a rustic camp environment with limited access to cell phone service and internet is essential.
- Experience with the Girl Scout program is preferred.
