Job Title: Community Engagement Facilitator
FLSA Status: Part Time (Regular), Non-Exempt
Starting Salary: $18.00 per hour
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager, the Community Engagement Facilitator delivers Girl Scout troop programming to girls in community troops. She/he is responsible for planning and implementing core Girl Scout program activities for girls in a troop setting. She/he will assist in recruitment events for Girl Scouts and volunteers, and short-term event series, provide direct support and mentorship to adult volunteers who are learning to facilitate Girl Scout troop meetings, and promote Girl Scouts to the local community and neighboring communities. Programing/events may occur in after-school settings, youth and community organizations, and housing developments. The Community Engagement Facilitator is an inspiring role model that ensure health, safety, and direct supervision of girls.
This position is for up to 25 hours per week; afternoon, after-school, evening, and some weekend hours. Opportunities for additional hours through the support of council wide signature programs may be available. Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may need to be assigned according to the particular needs of the council.
- Organize and implement council-wide Girl Scout programs in accordance with GSSNV and GSUSA guidelines.
- Lead weekly and bi-weekly groups of girls in Girl Scouts program series and activities.
- Apply basic youth development principles in working with girls through communication, relationship development, and respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth.
- Assures programs are properly supervised at all times and uphold all ratio, safety, security rules and procedures.
- Prepare and transport program materials daily, to and from each site.
- Responsible for maintaining inventory of program supplies and ensure that all equipment is in working order.
- Update roster as needed and take attendance at every meeting.
- Ensures timely notification to management as to areas of improvement, concern, and risk. This includes complete accident and/or incident reports submitted to management within 24 hours.
- Must be able to engage enthusiastically with parent/caregivers, potential adult volunteers to facilitate pathways to volunteerism and engagement.
- Maintain current collaborations and develop working relationships with parents, school principals, teachers, and community representatives.
- Maintains familiarity with a variety of Girl Scout concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality on behalf of the Girl Scout organization.
- Prepare check requests, purchase order requests, and assist in reconciling credit card expenses.
- Participates in reporting, budgeting, goal setting, and strategic planning to support and develop short-term and long-term departmental strategies, budgets, and risk management systems.
- Participate in customer service phone support.
- Uphold the organization's safety standards and policies.
- Attend and participate in team meetings and other all-staff meetings and events.
- Carries out other duties and assignments as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements
- College degree in a relevant course of study or equivalent work experience.
- Have at least 1 year experience working with children in a structured environment.
- Experience in membership recruiting or sales with a proven track record of consistently exceeding goals.
- Must be able to recruit, train, retain and supervise volunteers.
- Basic experience with Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word), SharePoint, team/knowledge sharing tools, etc.
- Previous Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application and experience with Salesforce preferred.
- Excellent, effective English language abilities, both oral and written. Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required.
- Ability to give presentations in front of large groups.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize work while managing multiple deadlines.
- Proven capability to work in a collaborative, service-focused environment.
- Demonstrates ability to maintain confidentiality with work related information.
- Demonstrates ability to set and achieve challenging goals.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule which regularly includes afternoon, evening, and weekend hours.
- Ability to travel to various event and activities, including overnights.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Must have personal transportation and ability to drive, possess a valid driver’s license, maintain personal auto insurance, and meet the council insurance company’s requirements for coverage.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification (training provided)
- Girl Scouts membership required upon hire.
