JOB SUMMARY

 

The Girl Experience Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating year-round programming for girls based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) including summer camp, council-led programs, Girl Scout pillar programs, partner programs, highest awards, and volunteer-led events.

This position will be responsible for stimulating girls' passion for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics while fostering an entrepreneurial mindset. This role involves designing and leading innovative programs that enable girls to explore these fields and develop their creativity, critical thinking, and business acumen.

This position will be creating transformative programs that empower girls with essential life skills while fostering strong family connections. You will collaborate with external vendors to curate unique "Girl Scout only" experiences that nurture personal growth, communication, and family engagement.

The Girl Experience Program Coordinator will also serve as the Overnight Camp Program Coordinator in the summer. You will create transformative outdoor experiences that connect girls with nature, build resilience, and foster leadership skills. In addition to leading regular outdoor programs, you will play a pivotal role in planning and overseeing the organization's summer overnight camp and provide on-site leadership during the camp program.

This role requires an individual who is enthusiastic about empowering girls to become future innovators and leaders; an adventurous individual with a passion for environmental education and outdoor activities; a creative and nurturing individual who believes in the power of learning through shared experiences.

Schedule: Must be available to work flexible hours from 9am-9pm, including weekends within a 40-hour work week. Some overnight travel may be required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may need to be assigned according to the needs of the council.

  • Develop and implement dynamic S.T.E.A.M. and entrepreneurial programs that encourage girls to explore and experiment in a supportive environment.
  • Guide girls through hands-on activities, experiments, and projects that foster their curiosity and problem-solving skills.
  • Incorporate entrepreneurial concepts into programs, teaching girls about Goal Setting, Decision Making, Money Management, People Skills, and Business Ethics.
  • Collaborate with experts and professionals in relevant fields to create inspiring learning experiences.
  • Coordinate and facilitate programs and events that expose girls to successful women entrepreneurs and role models.
  • Develop and implement innovative programs that emphasize life skills.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to design exclusive "Girl Scout only" experiences that align with the organization's values and goals.
  • Coordinate and facilitate programs and events that enhance girls' personal development and strengthen family ties.
  • Develop and lead outdoor programs that encompass nature exploration, outdoor skills, team building, and environmental awareness.
  • Collaborate with local outdoor experts and organizations to enhance the outdoor program curriculum.
  • Coordinate with staff and stakeholders to plan and implement the organization's summer resident camp, ensuring a diverse range of engaging activities.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that encourages girls from all backgrounds to engage in S.T.E.A.M. and entrepreneurial activities; inclusive outdoor environment that encourages girls to step out of their comfort zones and develop leadership skills; inclusive environment for girls and families to bond through activities.
  • Continuously assess the impact of programs and camper satisfaction, gathering feedback from participants and making improvements as needed.
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and engagement of all participants during activities.
  • Ensure that all activities are in compliance with Safety Activity Checkpoints and they have been reviewed and approved by the Program Manager/Director of Girl Experience.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of program content, attendance, and outcomes.
  • Cultivate partnerships with educational institutions and industry experts to enhance program offerings.
  • Collaborate with recruitment teams to attract volunteers who can contribute to life skills and family experience programs; volunteers with expertise in S.T.E.A.M. fields and entrepreneurship and the outdoors.
  • Assist with training and overseeing camp counselors and staff, providing on-site guidance and support throughout the summer camp season.
  • Implement safety protocols and emergency procedures to ensure the well-being of campers and staff.
  • Design and facilitate programs that promote environmental stewardship and a love for nature.
  • Prepare check requests, purchase order requests, and assist in reconciling credit card expenses.
  • Participates in reporting, budgeting, goal setting, and strategic planning to support and develop short-term and long-term departmental strategies, budgets, and risk management systems.
  • Participate in customer service phone support.
  • Uphold the organization's safety standards and policies.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and other all-staff meetings and events.
  • Carries out other duties and assignments as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements


  • High School Diploma required, College degree or equivalent in related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in youth program development or education
  • Strong passion for S.T.E.A.M. subjects, outdoor activities, environmental education, and fostering leadership skills in girls.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with girls and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating camp programs is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the Girl Scout program is advantageous.
  • Proficient computer operation skills and in use of technology
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word), Smartsheet, SharePoint, team/knowledge sharing tools, etc.
  • Work Monday to Friday during office hours with the ability to work a flexible schedule including frequent nights and weekends.
  • Ability to travel to various event and activities, including overnights.
  • Sufficient eye-to-hand coordination to successfully operate a computer keyboard.
  • Ability to give and receive information by telephone and in person.
  • Ability to give presentations in front of large groups.
  • Ability to sit upright, stand, or walk, for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various conditions.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Valid Driver’s License Required. Must have personal transportation and ability to drive, possess a valid driver’s license, maintain personal auto insurance, and meet the council insurance company’s requirements for coverage.
  • Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certifications. Wilderness First Aid certification preferred.
  • Maintain Girl Scouts Membership upon hire.
