The mission of Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. The Director, Development is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, with a focus on mid-level ($25,000 and below) individual donor cultivation. This role bridges the gap between day-to-day fundraising operations and major gifts, ensuring a strong donor pipeline for long-term sustainability.
Fundraising Strategy & Execution
· Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan with the CEO and Senior Director that aligns with organizational goals.
· Lead and manage the Annual Fund, including face-to-face, direct mail, peer-to-peer fundraising, recurring gifts, and donor campaigns with support of marketing consultants.
· Support CEO and Senior Director in mid-level donor cultivation, ensuring prospects move toward major gifts.
· Work closely with the Grants Contractor to oversee corporate and foundation grant opportunities, ensuring the contractor is aligned with desired outputs.
· Partner with the Marketing Contractor to enhance donor communications and fundraising visibility.
· Implementation of special event fundraising strategy.
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
· Cultivate and steward a portfolio of individual donors, ensuring meaningful engagement and retention.
· Develop corporate sponsorship strategies, ensuring fulfillment and long-term partnership building.
· Oversee donor recognition initiatives and impact reporting.
Department Management
· Lead execution of fundraising special events, ensuring seamless coordination across teams.
· Work with the board to enhance board giving participation and fundraising engagement.
· Supervise and provide directions to the Development Operations Coordinator
· Strategic Thinker – Ability to develop and execute fundraising plans that align with long-term organizational goals.
· Relationship Builder – Strong interpersonal skills to engage donors, corporate partners, and board members.
· Data-Driven Decision Maker – Experience leveraging donor data for fundraising insights and growth.
· Project Management – Ability to juggle multiple priorities, from events to campaigns to donor relations.
· Fundraising Experience – Proven experience in donor cultivation, annual campaigns, and grant strategy.
· Leadership – Comfortable supervising staff, contractors, and volunteers.
· 3-5 years in fundraising, development, or nonprofit advancement roles.
· Experience managing corporate sponsorships, individual donor portfolios, and grants.
· Familiarity with CRM donor databases (e.g., Bloomerang, MailChimp, etc.).
· Event planning experience is a plus.
