Status: Part- Time, 29 hours or less per week.

Originally founded as The Girls Club of Columbus, Girls Inc. has educated and empowered girls in Columbus since 1952. Through after school and full day summer programs, as well as a year-round sports program, our $1.5 million organization annually serves a diverse group of more than 1,700 girls, ages 6 to 18. Girls Inc. of Columbus is an affiliate of Girls Inc., which serves more than 144,000 girls annually through a network of 83 affiliates across the US and Canada.
Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician Lead is responsible for preserving and improving the condition and functionality of our centers. The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks including painting, HVAC maintenance, basic landscape maintenance, plumbing, light electrical, and pool maintenance.
This position requires an experienced, practical, and detail-oriented professional with a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently while observing all health and safety guidelines.
Principal Responsibilities
- Landscape common areas of buildings, playgrounds, ball fields, and entryways
- Fertilization and weed control
- Maintenance and basic repairs of electrical systems (switches, ballasts, plugs, etc.)
- Maintenance and basic repairs of plumbing systems
- HVAC systems preventative maintenance and minor repairs
- Other maintenance and repairs as needed
- General building upkeep procedures (painting, light carpentry, etc.)
- Regularly inspect fleet vehicles and conduct basic care and maintenance
- Pool maintenance, including cleaning and chemicals
- Assistant new hires and perform training activities for department
- Actively participate in leadership meetings in the absence of the COO, if necessary
- Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel, and follow safety protocol
- Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety regulations
- Aid in budget development and ensure it is followed
- Other duties as assigned
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices
- Able to operate commercial-grade landscaping equipment, including zero-turn mower, push mower, string trimmer, edger, blower, hedge trimmer, and herbicide sprayer
- Knowledge of basic electrical maintenance and repair
- Knowledge of basic plumbing maintenance and repair
- Working knowledge of in-ground pool maintenance, chemicals, pump, and motor repair/replacement, and cleaning procedures
- Knowledge of irrigation system operation and repair
- Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail

Conditions of Employment
Employment by Girls Inc. for all positions is contingent upon successfully passing a criminal background check, including a sex offender check, as well as a pre-employment drug screening and a review of Department of Motor Vehicles records as required and allowable by law. Requirements
- High school diploma
- 3 years’ experience as a maintenance technician or similar position
- Good physical condition
- Must be able to lift 100 lbs.
- Must be able to work at heights of 30 feet or more on ladders and lifts
- Must have a valid driver’s license, clean MVR, pass a drug test, and a criminal background check.
