Position Summary:
The Mechanical Subcontract Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and tracking all mechanical subcontractor construction to ensure that they meet all contractual compliance including compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, client requirements, the latest applicable code requirements, and that work is executed in a professional and quality manner. Construction Coordinators report project progress and problems to the Site Manager or Project Manager. The role requires a thorough knowledge of all mechanical construction work scope, drawings, specifications and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor all mechanical subcontractors’ work for safe work practices, monitor quality and compliance with project requirements and performing job observations.
- Ensure all safety rules and regulations are observed
- Monitor construction progress and report potential delays.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of renewable energy standards and practices, including ISO, OSHA, and environmental impact guidelines
- Prepare and review compliance documentation, permits, and reports
- Maintain accurate records of compliance audits, inspections, and corrective actions
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations that could impact ongoing or future projects
- Witnessing special tests such as Torque Testing, Pull Testing (anchor/bolt pull-out tests), Pile Integrity Testing, or Vibration Testing.
- Coordinating equipment preparation and work permitting.
- Documenting all quality surveillance and test results.
- Timely communication with project manager regarding all subcontractor related issues, all field change orders, and progress.
- Transmittal of all subcontractor timesheets & paperwork in a timely manner to project manager
- Communication with the project manager and other construction coordinators any activities that need to occur in your absence.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Mechanical Construction Coordinator or similar role.
- Construction Knowledge: Understanding of mechanical construction processes, practices, and safety regulations.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effectively communicating with subcontractors, project teams, and clients.
- Organizational Skills: Managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with project management software, construction software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Technical Aptitude: Understanding schematics, drawings, and specifications.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Identifying and resolving issues that may arise during the project.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to navigate construction sites, including climbing stairs and ladders, and entering confined spaces.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to use tools, operate equipment, and work in various weather conditions.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee works on-site at the construction worksite where the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
