Position Summary:
Gizmo is looking for an experienced Exhibit Production Manager to join our team.
We are an established company that strives to create cool things and have fun
doing it, and seek a dynamic self-starter with a passion for the arts to join our
team. Responsibilities include supervising and managing fabrication resources
for multiple projects in various stages of completion. Position reports directly to
the President, playing a key role on our management team as we strive to take
our fabrication to the next level. The Exhibit Production Manager oversees the
leads in the different shop areas, which include: Carpentry, Digital Fab, Finishing,
Interactives/AV, in addition to overseeing Safety programs, training, and
receiving. The Exhibit Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all
aspects of the day to day operations of one of our San Francisco based studios.

Responsibilities & Duties:
1. Project Onboarding and Sales Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the Sales and Project Management teams to
understand project requirements, timelines, and client expectations.
- Review prospective project documents and consult with the Sales
Manager.
2. Design Management:
- Oversee designers to interpret and execute design plans.
- Ensure design changes and updates are communicated effectively
to all stakeholders.
3. Production and Fabrication:
- Oversee the production and implementation of museum exhibits.
from concept through completion.
- Manage the purchasing process for all exhibit-related materials and
services.
- Track and report on budget expenditures and project costs.
- Communicate regularly with the Project Management team to
provide updates on production progress and address any fabrication-related concerns.
- Supervise the exhibit shop team and ensure efficient workflow.
- Manage the maintenance and organization of shop tools,
equipment, and supplies.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed in the shop at all times.
- Maintain high standards of quality and craftsmanship in all exhibit components.
4. Coordination with other Studios and External Resources:
- Oversee processes that involve Gizmo’s other studios, including
CNC and Metalwork, ensuring they align with exhibit project needs.
- Coordinate and manage relationships with external vendors
(printing, powder coating, etc).
5. Installation
- Perform site visits
- Make installation plans, including performing site visits as needed,
renting equipment and/or hiring local talent for installs as needed.
- Arrange travel arrangements, including transportation, lodging, and
reporting of special wage payments, per diem, etc.
- Develop safety plans, HSA’s, and closeout documents.
6. Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate production processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Stay informed about new technologies and methods in exhibit production.
Miscellaneous
- Contribute to our open, positive and collaborative team environment
- Present a courteous, professional face to our clients and vendors
- Possess the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Hold a valid driver's license with aclean record
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:
- BA degree (in related field of studios preferred)
- Proficiency in understanding industry best practices in structural
engineering, lighting design, electronic media, carpentry, metalworking, and finishing trades
- Knowledge of industry vendors and suppliers
- Familiarity with reading and marking up construction documents (shop drawings and blue-prints)
- Superior team-building and conflict resolution skills
- Proficiency in understanding and using various office and management based software, including, but not limited to Smartsheet, Basecamp,
Teamgantt, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office applications (ie, Word, Excel, etc.) or their equivalent.
- Understanding and use of CAD software (ie, AutoCad, Rhino, Solidworks, or VectorWorks.
- Ability to work on both Macintosh and Windows platforms
- Strong work ethic, ability to drive the team to meet production deadlines and goals
- Willingness and availability to work irregular hours, evenings and weekends when required.
- Ability to work under pressure, efficiently manage time, prioritize multiple deadlines, delegate tasks, and proactively address issues before they impact production delivery dates or profitability
- Customer-focused, mature, friendly, professional, and results-oriented attitude
- Possess excellent organizational skills and pay thorough attention to detail
