FOOD EXPEDITOR/ EXPO (Gjelina NY)

Salary Range: $22.00 to $28.00 per hour (DOE and state)

Job Summary: The Food Expeditor (Expo) ensures timely and accurate food preparation, assembly, garnishing, and delivery to guests. This role acts as a liaison between the kitchen, floor staff, and food runners, ensuring quality, presentation, and proper timing of dishes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage time and report to duty on time, including taking breaks in compliance with New York Labor Law.
• Maintain cleanliness and high hygiene standards.
• Be knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients.
• Ensure prep and station readiness before, during, and after shifts.
• Oversee quality and presentation of dishes, ensuring timely coursing.
• Liaise with management, servers, and runners, resolving any issues promptly.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.

Required Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of restaurant expo or related experience preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions, use equipment, and comply with safety and sanitation standards.
• Strong communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Neat and professional appearance; ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
• Knowledge of proper food handling and certification (desired).
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Demands:

• Stand, walk, lift up to 40 pounds, and perform repetitive movements.
• Ability to work with restaurant equipment and cleaning solutions.
• Specific vision abilities, including depth perception and focus adjustment.

Other Requirements:

• NY Food Handler Certification.
• NY Sexual Harassment Prevention Training.

Work Environment:

• Moderate noise levels and varying conditions (wet, hot/cold, slippery).
