Job Summary:
Under minimal supervision a CNC operator will operate the furnace and sizing automation for the CNC production lines. This automation includes multiple Fanuc robots, laser marking, acoustic resonance testing equipment, and sizing lubrication system. The CNC operator is responsible for setting up and changing over the necessary components as the production jobs change.
They are responsible for meeting production rates, maintaining quality of parts produced, and correctly packing parts for shipping. CNC operator must monitor and make proper adjustments of machines as needed. Performs quality control testing and maintains accurate quality testing records.
Overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) is expected to be 100% by focusing on equipment, processes, and individual performance.
This position will report directly to the shift supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A person in this position shall possess at minimum a high school diploma (or equivalent, ie. GED).
- Must be able to read, write, follow directions and have good manual dexterity. Individual must be knowledgeable of quality control devices and testing procedures in addition to quality control tools (i.e. X and R charts, histograms, etc.,). Ability to analyze and troubleshoot automated process is desirable. Individual must be a qualified forklift operator. Individuals should be knowledgeable of TS16949. Exceptional comprehension of GQS with the ability to train. Individual must be willing to complete all required training material.
- Candidate must have the ability to lift heavy objects (over 40 pounds).
- The CNC compaction equipment represents a new, unique, and important opportunity for operations to implement a dedicated world class production line. A considerable amount of planning and capital has been committed with the vision of maximizing production uptime, optimizing output and minimizing scrap and wasted effort. To accomplish this goal the CNC operator must demonstrate initiative, energy and enthusiasm.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains automated equipment as assigned. Loads parts into equipment, cycles product through multiple operations, and removes parts from line. Must maintain production rates throughout entire work shift.
- Operate and maintain laser marking unit and acoustic resonance testing machine per standard work instructions. Perform all applicable inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Must setup and reset automation during change overs.
- Unload furnaces, pack parts, and perform scanning.
- Visually inspects parts for rust, chips, burnouts, etc. Performs quality control checks with proper quality control devices as required by control plan specification and special instruction. Maintains acceptable scrap levels, plots and documents data on appropriate charts.
- Tags parts for proper placement.
- High expectations for quality, process details, and cleanliness of work area.
- High degree of personal initiative and enthusiasm while performing duties.
- Understands the scanning system and the reports it can generate.
- Follows departmental procedures and work instructions.
- Performs training duties as assigned or required.
- Knowledgeable about MSDS, quality, and environmental policies. Must know how to locate, access, and review associated policies.
- May be required to hand-pack on production line.
- Must be able to perform Overtime as required.
- Perform layered audits as required.
- Active in LEAN initiatives, 5S, and effectively addressing safety issues as they arise.
- Maintains work area and equipment in a neat, clean, and orderly condition. Properly stores dunnage, supplies, materials, equipment, etc. Completes records and forms as required by established procedures. Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner reporting all problems, irregularities or suggested corrective actions immediately to supervision.
