What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Programming Specialist/After School Program Facilitator position at Glade Run Lutheran Services?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The position of Summer Programming Specialist will facilitate programming for children referred to the Summer Enrichment Program at Grace Community Wellness Center in Butler. This position will act as a mentor to referred children and will document attendance and progress in the program. The Summer Programming Specialist will facilitate psycho educational groups and will be responsible for transporting children to and from the program.
The After School Program Facilitator position is a 10-month part time position that would typically work Monday – Friday between the hours of 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. following the Butler Area School District's school calendar. The program serves students in grades 4th to 12th.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree in education, human service, or psychology preferred with a minimum of two years of experience working with children or adolescents required, preferably in an education, mental health or a social service setting.
- Must possess demonstrated verbal and written communication skills as well as strong PC skills, including common MS Office applications.
- Demonstrated ability to be a team player required, including a capacity to work well under pressure.
- Must be able to meet the hours of the position.
- Must have a valid driver’s license (Pennsylvania or for state in which resides) and acceptable driving record.
- Must be eligible for PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and FBI Clearance.
- Must be able to identify with the agency Mission Statement and support the agency’s Core Values.
POSITION SPECIFIC CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Communicates with family and referring agency on child’s progress in the program.
- Completes monthly reports that are forwarded to referring sources outlining the participants progress and attendance in the program.
- Provides transportation to and from the program as well as field trips.
- Acts as a role model and has the ability to offer support when necessary.
- Supports participants in any commitments that they may have.
- Attends departmental and professional trainings, workshops, and conferences to ensure best practices.
Part-Time - 2 to 3 days per week during the school year for the After School Program Facilitator role/5 days per week from 10-2 for the Summer Programming Specialist role.
