PAGE 1 OF 2 JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette, Inc., has provided workforce, education and early childhood educational services to the communities we have served for over 40 years. The Part-time Afterschool Youth Specialist will recruit program participants, expand awareness of youth programming, assisting with administrative duties, and providing engaging, educational, and recreational activities for students during the afterschool hours. This role involves creating a safe and positive environment where children can explore, learn, and grow. The ideal candidate for Youth Specialist will have the ability to communicate effectively with youth of various ages and backgrounds, recruit youth participants in various programs, strong organizational and time management skills, and is willing work closely with students, parents, and other staff members to support the development and well-being of youth participants. POSITION: AFTERSCHOOL YOUTH SPECIALIST PURPOSE: Assist with Afterschool Enrichment programming by recruiting program participants, expanding awareness of youth programming, assisting with administrative duties, and providing engaging and educational opportunities. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, social work or related field. Prior experience with workforce development and/or youth participant recruitment is a plus. Experience: Counseling or advocacy experience Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge: a. Ability to establish rapport with participants b. c. d. e. f. g. h. i. j. Ability to establish rapport with local schools and businesses. Monitor for compliance and efficiency Prepare and plan for occasional classroom instruction activities that promote learning, creativity, and physical fitness. Activities may include homework assistance, sports, and STEAM projects Interpret assessment results including state standardized testing scores, skill-based, and aptitude assessments Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and student progress. Prepare and submit reports as required. Maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and program updates. Maintain student files and prepare progress reports. Provide regular feedback from classrooms and address any concerns or issues.
