Glades Talent is working with a public utility agency to identify a strong financial leader to serve as Controller.
Position: Controller
Location: Central California
Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Overview:
The Controller will report to the General Manager and oversee all financial, accounting, investment, and administrative functions. This leader will manage a small finance team, support budgetary strategy and planning, and ensure the integrity of internal controls and reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee accounting operations, budgeting, audits, payroll, and benefit administration
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff
- Direct long-range financial planning and asset protection
- Develop and maintain financial reporting systems and internal controls
- Produce monthly and annual financial statements
- Coordinate annual audits and investment of district funds
- Administer insurance and risk management programs
- Support onboarding, education, and training of accounting team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (CPA preferred)
- Minimum 5 years’ progressive experience in accounting/finance
- At least 1 year in a supervisory or management role
- Strong knowledge of government accounting, budgeting, audits, and fiscal controls
- Experience with management information systems and risk management
Other Requirements:
- Valid CA Class C Driver’s License
- Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screening (safety-sensitive role)
- Occasional travel required
- Proficiency with office and financial software systems
Work Environment:
Primarily office-based; must be able to lift up to 15 lbs and sit for extended periods. Occasional exposure to sun and extended work hours may be required.
