The Opportunity
Are you passionate about ensuring safety and compliance in the transportation industry? We are seeking a dedicated Transportation Compliance Specialist to join our team and help us maintain the highest standards of safety and regulatory adherence. This permanent, full-time position will report to the Transportation Operations Manager and is fully onsite. Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Driver Compliance: Review and verify driver licenses, medical certificates, and driving records to ensure they meet DOT standards. Conduct pre-employment and periodic driver qualification checks.
- Documentation Management: Maintain accurate driver files and conduct regular audits of driver logs, vehicle maintenance records, and other compliance documents.
- Vehicle Inspections: Perform vehicle inspections to ensure proper maintenance and safety standards are met.
- Training Programs: Develop and deliver DOT compliance training programs for drivers and relevant staff.
- Regulatory Updates: Communicate important regulatory updates and safety procedures to employees.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and near-misses involving company vehicles, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Reporting: Report incidents to appropriate authorities as required by DOT regulations and maintain organized records of all DOT-related activities.
- Policy Maintenance: Ensure company policies and procedures align with DOT regulations and maintain accurate personnel records.
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Degree in Transportation Management, Human Resources, or related field, or 3 years of experience in DOT compliance, transportation management, or HR roles.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations and HR best practices.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and transportation management software.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and ability to perform non-strenuous daily activities.
- Exposure to loud noise levels, mechanical moving parts, and various environmental conditions.
