What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Agent position at Glasstream Powerboats?
Summery:
Responsible for the ordering of materials, supplies, and/or equipment, and the follow through with vendors on shipment and delivery.
Tasks:
- Correspond with vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them in order to determine product availability and terms of sales as well as follow ups on orders and shipping dates (in person, by email and by phone).
- Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
- Receive materials and inventory purchases. Verify the accuracy of the shipments with purchase orders.
- Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
- Issue materials to the departments as needed for production.
- Oversee plant materials inventory.
- Must be very organized and detail oriented.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in purchasing and procurement processes
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to build supplier relationships
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, JD Edwards, or Oracle EBS
- Knowledge of materials management and inventory control
- Familiarity with supply chain management and logistics
- Understanding of contracts, pricing strategies, and production planning

Pay: $14.00 - $20.00 per hour
