About the Position
Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking a Sr. Technical Analyst to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient information and operations systems in support of core organizational functions. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve systems issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. This position will serve as a liaison between IT groups, users, and vendors and will mentor peers, specifically technical analysts and business analysts.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality and a professional demeanor and approach in the performance of duties.
- Independently define problems/situations and design system changes or procedures to satisfy requirements.
- Independently develop solutions of advanced complexity utilizing tooling solutions or other technology concepts (e.g. stored procedures, java script, et.al.)
- Research advanced user problems and solve them by modifying the existing system when the solution follows clear precedent.
- Plans and works on varied information systems assignments. Monitors the work of a segment of a major project or an entire project of lessor complexity and importance.
- Perform advanced testing (security, stress, integration, compatibility, etc.) of multi-system solutions and enhancements.
- Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
- Assist in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications.
- Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
- Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
- Independently perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions and conduct post-implementation reviews.
- Maintain a working knowledge of automation products and services, as well as business analysis best practices.
- Maintain knowledge of IT's strategic initiatives and assist in identifying potential system-related solutions. Draft specifications and/or develop solutions for those initiatives.
- Represent IT in dealing with internal business partners. Represent GIG in discussions and negotiations with various external business partners.
- Serve as a liaison between IT, users and vendors.
- Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
- Establishes standards, guidelines and procedures for maximizing system performance.
- Maintains project tracking information and reports progress to the project leader.
- Takes advantage of opportunities for professional growth and continued education.
- Mentor other technical analysts and/or business analysts in regards to analyzing system changes, documenting business requirements, preparing test plans and conducting tests.
- Manage small to medium size project teams.
- Review coding logic, participate in code reviews, and code solutions.
- Work with developers to create system designs that meet the needs of the stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science, information science, management information systems, or business administration.
- A minimum of 5 years experience working in an insurance systems with proven knowledge of MGA’s, brokerage, retail, and/or carrier operations.
- Proven knowledge of insurance company and agency operations.
- Proven technical knowledge of multiple programming languages, integration concepts, logic rules and data structures.
- Extensive experience with core software applications, including client-server and browser-based applications.
- Proven knowledge of systems analysis techniques.
- Proven knowledge of system impacts, both upstream and downstream, as it relates to a system change.
- Proven knowledge of agency management systems and their functions.
- Ability to conduct research into system(s) issues and product(s) as required.
- Proven knowledge of relational databases with the ability to independently create queries of advanced complexity.
- Proven knowledge of performance, security and data transfer tools as it relates to software development (e.g. load balancing, user and system authentication, web services, batch jobs, stored procedures, etc. . . .).
- Proven knowledge of mid-range and server platforms, the use of networks and personal computer technologies.
- Proven knowledge of advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g. complex formulas, pivot tables, etc. . . .).
- Must be able to communicate with a wide variety of people at all levels (both internal and external) in a highly effective manner using reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
- Must be flexible and adaptable, dealing with changing priorities, matrix management and responsibilities and accountabilities which may blur during any given assignment.
- Desire to maintain and expand level of technical and professional demeanor.
- Analytical ability to develop and promote solutions to problems involving information systems independently.
- Must possess necessary project management skills to lead projects.
