Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team in Grapevine, TX. In this role, you will provide essential support to ophthalmologists and optometrists in delivering high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, experience in patient care, and familiarity with ophthalmology practices. This position is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office while enhancing the patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures by preparing instruments and equipment.
  • Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity tests, tonometry, and ocular motility assessments.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using electronic health record systems like Epic.
  • Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative care instructions.
  • Manage patient flow within the office to ensure timely appointments and reduce wait times.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries and concerns effectively.
  • Support retail sales of optical products, including frames and lenses, while providing knowledgeable recommendations.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Experience

  • Goldman pressure checks
  • Must be willing to travel between our Grapevine and Fort Worth clinics as needed
  • Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred, particularly in ophthalmology or pediatrics.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology related to eye care is essential.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, particularly Epic, is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Retail sales experience in an optical setting is advantageous but not required.

Hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8a-1pm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $1.00 - $2.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
