Position Summary:
Manage, procure, and plan JIT inventory to support The Gleason Works Corporate objectives for on time delivery. Accountable for on time execution of material requirements to support multiple areas of the business. Manage with in company goals for inventory levels while ensuring that manufacturing throughput objectives are met.

Job Details:
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement activities involving multiple disciplines of the Business.
  • Manage critical to timeline commodities in a fast paced environment.
  • Strategically partner with the engineering team to ensure critical to assembly launch materials are ordered to forecast (PIR) and available at the start of the assembly build cycle or service demand.
  • Contribute to the team Key Performance Indicators on a weekly basis and initiate suggestions for improvement based on the published KPI’s.
  • Utilize systems to generate data or run standard reports for decision-making purposes.
  • Identify long lead time or critical components and ensure that the business system has been updated accordingly with regard to Safety Stock and Material Master Maintenance for Lead Time.
  • Reduce scrap/ waste where applicable. Provide all supporting documentation for instances of scrap to include the corrective action plan to prevent in the future.
  • Engage members of the engineering team where applicable to develop cross functional teams and solutions.
  • Provide feedback for supplier performance. For suppliers that do not meet required levels, work with the Strategic Commodity team to identify new opportunities.
  • Ensure all materials being driven via the SOP are available for production at the need date. Expedite and escalation activities as needed including MRP Maintenance, 100% date maintenance and Open order report execution on a weekly basis.
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively and proactively with all planning/scheduling customers (assembly floor, production floor, service parts, internal customer service and national sales groups) to generate and sustain the highest possible level of productivity.
  • Effectively communicate updates regarding the area of responsibility during daily stand up meetings as required.
  • Process all Engineering change orders affecting their area of responsibility and according to company guidelines around procedure and timing.
  • Fully document job profile of current activities along with a trained back up to include work instructions.
  • Process tasks as assigned through the Issue tracking Log (ITL) system.
  • Other duties as assigned by the department Manager or team leader.
Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
  • Two (2) year degree and demonstrated success in Materials Planning or equivalent education and experience. Four (4) year technical or business degree desired.
  • Three years of experience in a materials planning/scheduling environment
  • APICS CPIM preferred
  • General SAP Demand Planning Module applications skills and advanced SAP PP/DD (Production Planning/Detail Scheduling) module application skills strongly preferred.
