What are the responsibilities and job description for the Educational Activities Instructor (Part-Time) position at Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club?

Responsible for creating and implementing programs and activities that reinforce academic enrichment and positive engagement for youth.
Provide leadership and mentoring to YOUTH & TEEN members as well as create opportunities for high-yield learning activities such as reading, writing, homework help, tutoring and games that develop cognitive skills.
- Facilitate the Boys and Girls Clubs of America's national educational curriculum, including but not limited to; Power Hour, Project Learn, Tutoring, Volunteer Recruitment Program, etc.
DAYS AND HOURS REQUIRED (Schedule adjusted and Subject to change*)
- Monday - Friday, 2:30-6:30pm, September - June (exact time may vary slightly)
- Summer: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm / 9:00am – 5:30pm (exact time may vary)
- Summer Training Orientation Week, attendance required Last week in June (time may vary)
- 7 Week Summer Program (July – August ) *
Requirements:
- 18 years or older, High School Diploma, Some College or Degree preferred
- Experience working with children, Boys & Girls Club experience a plus
- Education background/concentration teaching, special ed, k-12 a plus!
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.
- Demonstrate ability in working with young people and parents.
- Must possess necessary skills to properly instruct and guide youth.
- Must be creative, resourceful and versatile
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
