The combined North American business now has more than 900 employees, operates across 38 locations, including 8 brick plants (Glen-Gery), 25 masonry supply center/retail locations (Brickworks Supply) and 3 Design Studios (Brickworks).
Basic Function
The Pricing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing corporate pricing initiatives and policies through associated business systems and sales channels, supporting the overall business strategies. The Pricing Manager will work closely with sales and product management to establish prices for new, existing, and custom-ordered products by evaluating supply chains, costs, competitive positioning, and market insights.
HIGHLIGHTS OF SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE)
Development of Pricing Strategy:
- Develop tactical pricing strategy to capitalize on market growth opportunities through data analysis and feedback with sales teams
- Undertake market segmentation and margin analysis by product, customer, and geography
- Assess effectiveness of list pricing by balancing price development with transactional volume
- Contribute to effective pricing structure development in alignment with evolving sales channels
- Execute price update reviews with detailed analytics demonstrating cost input changes, competitive pricing of like products, and price trends over time
- Create strategic product price positioning of similar products
Reporting:
- Track appropriate pricing KPI’s and execute regular reporting for sales and management teams to communicate progress toward budgets and initiatives
- Measure effectiveness of pricing initiatives and promotions
- Ability to leverage ERP and CRM systems to provide specific customer and product insight
- Support organization with periodic and ad-hoc reporting and information to drive strategic initiatives and support business requirements
Management of Customer Price Lists and Business Systems Price Maintenance:
- Oversee customer price list updates and customer price list document distribution through sales channels
- Implement any price adjustments across business systems in conjunction with sales and management team strategy
- Execute customer and supplier pricing administration tasks through business systems in a timely manner
Hands on Business Systems Development:
- Influence master data quality improvements across the business through identification of data quality or reporting opportunities, and working with relevant business and IT partners to facilitate improvement
- Investigate and implement underlying systems process improvements generating efficiencies and improved pricing controls
- Leverage business systems best practices to create user and business system efficiencies supporting effective ongoing price maintenance
Pricing Governance:
- Continually develop pricing policies to ensure effective price governance as the business evolves
- Develop and maintain controls to ensure customer sales order prices comply with policy, price expectations, and corporate governance requirements
- Streamline customer sell price exception reporting to capture variances between system pricing and actual sales order prices
Ongoing Sales Transaction Support:
- Execute custom order product price creation through CRM by conducting margin analysis and assessing comparable product price reviews
- Assess product discount requests for viability and margin quality in a competitive sales environment
Process Documentation and Training:
- Create and document business process workflows
- Implement and communicate with the business new tools and processes to support key pricing initiatives
- Provide training and support to the business in the use of tools and reports; set appropriate feedback and communication expectations
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Business, Mathematics, or another analytical field required; MBA preferred but not required
- 3 years of experience in a Consumer-Packaged Goods or other pricing management analytical role; demonstrated ability managing multi-channel pricing and experience with commodity pricing management (non-indexed) preferred.
TECHNICAL AND FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Strong analytical, process mapping, and independent problem-solving skills required
- Ability to translate big data into useful information, driving actionable business initiatives
- Excellent attention to detail with strong business acumen and sound understanding of manufacturing and retail value flows
- Ability to translate reporting anomalies into business process changes
- JD Edwards and Salesforce CRM experience highly regarded, POS system pricing management experience a plus
- Advanced use of Microsoft Excel with data modelling and analysis experience and ability to manage multiple, large data sets
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong oral and written communication skills required with ability to simplify and communicate complicated tasks
- Strong time management, administration, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated positive attitude, strong work ethic and the ability to influence effective change in the Brickworks context
- Ability to complete multiple tasks with varying levels of priority
