Basic Function: Brickworks is seeking a high energy Manager, Fleet Assets eager to have an impact on the organization, while managing the national mobile asset fleet for the North American business. This role oversees the company vehicles, ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective operations, including tasks like vehicle acquisition, maintenance, driver management, and compliance with regulations.
Duties:
- Oversee the management of the mobile asset fleet including truck trailers, large wheel loaders, forklifts, and other heavy equipment.
- Manage fleet asset database, from initial vehicle/equipment purchase to disposal. Ensure data integrity and uniformity for individual assets and across the entire fleet.
- Executes initiatives to deliver key performance indicators, including savings, supplier rationalization, low-cost region sourcing, risk management, supplier performance, etc.
- Oversee national fuel card program
- Organize fleet associated purchasing including price/contract term negotiation, capital expenditure preparation and final documentation preparation for approval.
- Ensure all fleet including new leases and purchased equipment are always insured and assist with yearly renewals.
- Provide oversight on best method of repair to company equipment.
- Ensure best utilization of surplus equipment and refurbish equipment as planned when possible.
- Maximize equipment using a national maintenance system to achieve clarity and analytical data across the business on maintenance trends and costing (i.e., monitor hours used, cycle equipment between sites, annual maintenance contracts).
- Oversee leasing and maintenance budget for business
- Ensure regulatory compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations
- Implementing and enforcement of company policies related to fleet operations
- Work with Executive VP Finance/Procurement Director on all leasing/financing arrangements.
- Maintain all vehicle information and inspection records
- Manage vendor data in JD Edwards
- Ability to travel 5-10% for site audits and meet with key stakeholders
Education and experience requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain & Logistics, Business, or Management, or other related field; or a combination of education and other relevant experience
- 4 to 6 years working knowledge of fleet management and procurement strategies
- Proven ability to manage functions and activities related to the procurement, servicing, operation, maintenance, and repair of vehicles
- Knowledgeable of the practices and procedures involved in researching, comparing, and purchasing vehicles, equipment, and supplies
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations to establish safety policies and procedures for fleet service operations a plus
- Proven knowledge of DOT regulations, governing the use of commercial vehicles, as well as strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of vehicle systems, components, and design characteristics
