The Glen Oaks Club, a premier club in Long Island, NY, is seeking a Part Time Receiving Clerk. The Glen Oaks Club is known for providing its members with an exceptional and personalized experience. For nearly 100 years the Glen Oaks Club has been evolving to maintain its stature as a home away from home for its member families.
Summary : Physically checks in all food-related items. Ensures the proper weight, specifications, quantity, and quality of the order being delivered and stocks deliveries based on NYS and Nassau County Food Safety regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following :
- Safe handling of food to maintain high levels of sanitary codes set forth by State and Local agencies.
- Checks, on a daily basis, all refrigerated and storage areas to ensure proper rotation, storage, and usage of all food items.
- Places all items in proper locations and rotates all stock to ensure freshness. (FIFO)
- Assists in monthly inventory, physical count, and organization of all food areas.
- Physically checks in all deliveries as per purchasing report, recording items received by weight and quantity.
- Opens all containers and / or boxes to check for freshness, quality and exact specifications.
- Notifies Purchasing Manager of any major discrepancies with delivery.
- Maintains cleaning of all storage areas.
- Stores refrigerated and frozen foods within 30 minutes of arrival to decrease food safety problems.
- Interacting with suppliers and drivers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping issues.
- Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipment errors with suppliers when necessary.
- Forward available inventory items by verifying stock and delivering schedules.
- Reconcile daily requisitions of inventory to various departments.
- Prepare purchase orders, process them and maintain them.
- Approving invoices and maintaining receipts, records and inventories.
- Communicates with members, co-workers, management, and the general public in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Purchasing Manager, Executive Chef, COO, and Controller

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Education and / or Experience :
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
