Glen Raven is recruiting for a Director of Platform Engineering which is responsible for: (1) ensuring the security, reliability, operational efficiency, and scalability of our IT infrastructure; (2) supporting application delivery through the design, deployment, and support of new and existing system architectures; (3) the evolution of our platform strategy and capabilities across observability, automation, and service management.
In pursuit of these responsibilities, the Director of Platform Engineering will also lead in the incorporation of DevOps principles and methodologies across the IT organization which will contribute heavily to other disciplines. These disciplines include, but are not limited to: continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), network and system administration, and data science.
A defining function of this role is the definition and execution of an effective platform strategy that prioritizes security and reliability and improves the likelihood of success for IT and business initiatives.

- This is a hybrid role, 3 days in the office and 2 days at home***
Infrastructure Management (90%)
- Information and System Security, Containerization and Orchestration, Cloud Infrastructure, Automation Development, Observability, Research and Reporting, Testing
- Perform Workforce Planning and Projections, Conduct Performance Management Tasks, Create and Review Professional Development Plans to grow Talent
- Technology-focused Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
- Cumulative total of 10 years of progressive experience in technology-focused role(s), or an equivalent combination of progressive experience in technology-focused role(s) and a technology-focused degree.
- Demonstrated experience of at least 3 years of managing a technical team.
- Systems Architecture, Design and Implementation
- Vulnerability/Compliance Management
- Cloud Architecture (IaaS: Azure, AWS)
- Containerization (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Automation (Ansible, Terraform)
- Observability (Splunk, OpenTelemetry, APM, RUM/Synthetics)
- Penetration Testing
- API Integration
- SDLC Management
- Programming Experience (Python, Bash, NodeJS)
- Form strong relationships, and build a network of contacts to facilitate organizational transformation from an infrastructure perspective.
- Evaluate new technologies, assess risk and propose possible implications.
- Learn from failure, and success.
- Assist solving ambiguous, or new, challenges through critical thinking, testing and deductive reasoning.
- Effectively present the strengths and weaknesses of complex, technical concepts and solutions.
