Job Overview:

PACU Nurse (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse)
Responsibilities & Duties
- Monitor patients' vital signs and level of consciousness post-surgery
- Administer medications for pain management and other post-operative care
- Assess patients for signs of post-operative complications and intervene as necessary
- Provide patient and family education regarding post-operative care and recovery
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals
- Document patient status, treatments, and clinical findings accurately
- Prepare patients for discharge once they meet the required criteria
- Implement infection control measures
- Assist with patient transfers to appropriate care units
- Respond to emergency situations and initiate appropriate interventions
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the PACU
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families
- Operate and monitor medical equipment used in post-operative care
- Ensure proper patient identification and maintain patient confidentiality
- Participate in continuous education and training to stay updated with best practices
PACU Nurse (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse) Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in a PACU or critical care setting
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of anesthesia-related complications and treatments
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Excellent assessment and clinical skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
- Compassionate and patient-centric approach
- Team-oriented and collaborative mindset
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Proficiency in monitoring and operating medical equipment
