School Nurse - Temporary Position
About Us: Glen Urquhart School (GUS), is an independent, coeducational day school for students in Pre-K through grade eight. Located 45 minutes north of Boston in Beverly Farms, GUS was founded in 1977 with an experiential, place-based philosophy that integrates all subjects and creates opportunities for students to be passionate in their pursuit of knowledge.
The Position: We seek a motivated, resourceful, and flexible nurse with excellent judgment and interpersonal skills who understands the health needs of children and can work in a cooperative environment with minimal medical supervision. This is a temporary position for approximately 24 weeks, beginning around August 25, 2025, with some training in May 2025. We're looking for someone who works well with others and has strong communication skills, both spoken and written. It's important to be able to work efficiently, stay organized, and pay attention to detail. You should be comfortable using Microsoft Office and email programs, and open to learning our internal medical records software. The position reports to the Head of School.

Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Providing nursing services for sick or injured students during school hours and occasionally on school trips.
- Providing first aid, illness assessment, and health maintenance for students.
- Administering daily prescription and PRN medication according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Medication Administration guidelines.
- Communicating with parents/faculty/staff/advisors about student illnesses and care plans.
- Developing health care plans with interventions and goals in accordance with school nursing practice with the full-time nurse and/or the school’s Health Care Consultant.
- Maintaining accurate documentation of individual student visits to the Health Office.
- Providing for the physical safety of the school community by monitoring immunizations, screening for infectious diseases, and reporting diseases as required by law.
- Acting as a resource in health education to school personnel, students and families; providing health education support as needed.
- Identifying students who exhibit health or emotional needs and providing health education and crisis intervention as needed.
- Organize and train faculty in necessary procedures such as CPR, First Aid, epipen use, and others as needs arise.
- Serving as an active member of the Emergency Response Team.
- BSN preferred
- Five years of supervised nursing experience
- Current Massachusetts RN license
- Current certifications in CPR and First Aid
