What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Sports Instructor (Part-Time) position at Glencoe Park District?
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Early Childhood Assistant Director, the Preschool Sports Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading athletic programs. This role requires maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor while interacting with participants and their families.
Sports Instructors may also be asked to contribute to the development of the athletics program by providing feedback, suggesting new class ideas, and offering input after each session.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 19 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- First Aid/CPR/ AED certification within the first six (6) months of hire.
- All employees must pass a criminal background check, which will be covered by the Glencoe Park District.
Required Knowledge:
- A strong understanding and working knowledge of early childhood practices is required.
- Experience teaching or coaching sports or athletics is also essential.
Required Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Ability to read, write, and organize instructional materials.
- Capability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities for various classes.
- Must consistently demonstrate patience and a positive attitude when working with children.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and lead all classes including setup and cleanup.
- Collaborate with Program Manager to enhance current offerings and develop new sports. Communicate regularly with parents about program goals, lesson plans, and participant progress.
- Maintain equipment inventory and communicate supply needs to program supervisor.
- Take attendance and complete required documentation, including incident/accident reports.
- Follow all safety policy and procedures in accordance with the Glencoe Park District Safety Manual; promptly report any accidents, incidents or policy violations.
- Assist with special events.
- Serve as a substitute instructor as needed.
- Assist with emergency procedures and building evacuation.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Hours:
This is an hourly part-time position scheduled Monday through Friday (12:30 PM—3:30 PM). Due to the nature of park district programming, evening, weekend, and some holiday hours may be expected. Enrichment teachers will predominantly work in the afternoons.
Pay Scale:
This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. The intended starting pay for this position is $22 per hour, with a full pay scale ranging from $20 per hour to $40 per hour.
Final compensation will be determined in good faith based on an evaluation of the candidate's qualifications, experience, and the recommendation of the Children's Circle Assistant Director or the Children's Circle Director.
