JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Shop Supervisor is responsible for the training of shop employees, planning and scheduling material needs, and meeting production schedules while ensuring compliance with PCM’s safety and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensuring all safety policies and procedures are followed and enforced in their department.
• Obeying all company, OSHA, and other state and federal agencies’ safety regulations.
• Coordinate shop activities through the planning process with Operations/Project Managers to ensure
the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner, as well as
within the specified quality standards of the customer and PCM.
• Tracking/monitoring department key performance indicators and leading continuous improvement
efforts for their department.
• Maintaining or reducing estimated labor/material costs for each project.
• Reading and comprehending shop drawings.
• Ensuring appropriate cleaning/maintenance procedures are defined, establish, and followed in their
department.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
• Visual acuity to inspect products and machinery.
• Working as a team and communicating effectively with:
o Operations Manager.
o All other shop employees.
• Leadership Skills: team motivation, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and team communication.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience and/or Training:
• Strong Communication skills leading mill and rip teams, prioritizing goals, and resolving issues.
• Prefer 5 years of previous experience setting up, running, repairing, setting heads, and grinding
knives, for Weinig moulders (non-HSK, non-high speed)
• Strong knowledge of hardwood and softwood lumber machining and cutting.
• Strong computer skills, with an emphasis on Excel.
• Strong management of mill and rip operations production flows.
Strong knowledge of scheduling mill and rip operations.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
