JOB SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient manufacturing operations. This position focuses on promoting safety initiatives, maintaining product quality, supporting special site projects, and driving continuous improvement efforts. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize processes, enhance productivity, and uphold compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                                                                                                         

Safety & Compliance:

  • Champion workplace safety by enforcing company policies, OSHA regulations, and best practices.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead or assist with incident investigations and ensure proper documentation and resolution.
  • Provide training and support for employees to maintain a safety-first culture.

Quality Assurance & Process Control:

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications in manufacturing processes.
  • Work closely with Quality Control to identify defects, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in developing and refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Conduct inspections and process evaluations to drive continuous improvement in product quality.

Special Site Projects & Operational Support:

  • Coordinate and execute special projects related to process improvements, equipment upgrades, or facility enhancements.
  • Support production teams in troubleshooting and resolving operational challenges.
  • Assist in scheduling, workflow optimization, and resource allocation to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with leadership and frontline teams to align projects with business objectives.

Continuous Improvement & Lean Initiatives:

  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements through data analysis and employee feedback.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to streamline processes and reduce waste.
  • Participate in kaizen events, root cause analysis, and process optimization efforts.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend strategies to improve productivity and efficiency.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, quality control, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement frameworks (preferred).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing-related software.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to see and differentiate color and to focus. Must wear appropriate PPE as required (safety shoes, hearing protection safety glass and gloves.)

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates in a professional office environment and manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery, loud noise, and various materials.

Will require frequent movement between controlled temperature, office environment, to temperature extremes of a metals manufacturing plant.
