Figure Skating Instructor (Part-Time, Year-Round)

The Figure Skating Instructor is responsible for providing on and off-ice instruction in the progressive-level GPD Skating Academy program to youth and/or adults. Instructor works under the supervision and is in communication about all aspects of the program with the Figure Skating Director. They provide safe and professional coaching within all rules and regulations of Glenview Park District, Learn to Skate USA, and other governing bodies.
JOB SUMMARY
Participates in the administration and instruction of GPD Skating Academy, to include:
- Instruct with on- and off-ice classes
- Teach children and/or adults the fundamentals of ice skating
- Assist in recruitment of skaters
- Handles parent/skater/instructor concerns during off-ice time
- Assist with seasonal exhibitions
- Mentor skaters and instructors
- Attends and assists at rink competitions and/or with ice show
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates must be at least 16 years of age, with continuing education in figure skating or 3-5 years skating experience. Active membership in a professional association is desirable (PSA, LTS USA, U.S. Figure Skating) while maintaining education and certifications in figure skating.
SCHEDULING & PAY
Instructor must be able to attend classes, which take place on Tuesday-Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Must be able to attend seasonal trainings or staff meetings as required. Pay is commensurate based on prior teaching experience and skating experience and varies by class level, ranging between $22-$28/hour. Plus, a complimentary Park Center Health and Fitness Membership!
The possibility of working additional hours in other capacities at Glenview Community Ice Center including skate rental, skate guard, ice camps, facility operations, customer service, or other positions are available.
