A Med Sync Pharmacy Technician helps support pharmacists in medication synchronization programs, including tasks like identifying patients, reviewing medication lists, aligning refill dates, and contacting patients for medication history, preparation, pickup and/or delivery.

- Medication Synchronization:
- Patient Identification and Enrollment: Identifying patients who would benefit from medication synchronization and assisting with enrollment in the program as well as working with physician groups to help their patients manage their medications.
- Medication List Review: Reviewing patients' medication lists to establish a plan for synchronization, ensuring medications are filled and dispensed to be taken at the same time.
- Refill Date Alignment: Choosing alignment dates for refills based on patient preference and medication schedules.
- Patient Communication: Contacting patients to prepare for medication dispensing, explaining the synchronization process and answering questions for each patient enrolled in the program as well as documenting the appropriate disposition of the patient interactions.
- Physician Communication: Contacting physician groups to obtain refills needed for the program, working with prior authorizations, and notifying physician groups of any impending issues regarding the Med Sync for each of their patients and documenting the appropriate disposition of the physician interactions.
- Medication Pickup/Delivery: Assisting with medication pickup or delivery, ensuring patients receive their medications on time.
- General Pharmacy Technician Duties:
- Prescription Processing: Accurately verifying incoming prescription information, preparing prescriptions for dispensing, and processing insurance claims.
- Inventory Management: Maintaining accurate pharmacy inventory, restocking shelves, and managing supplies.
- Patient Profiles: Maintaining accurate patient/client profiles and accessing, inputting, and retrieving information through the pharmacy's computer network.
- Communication: Communicating with physicians, patients, and third parties, such as insurers.
- Customer Service: Greeting and assisting customers, answering phones, and directing customer calls.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records related to inventory, receipts, purchases, deliveries, returns, and recalls as well as any patient/physician reports or documentation needed for the program.
- Other Duties:
- Prior Authorization: Assisting with obtaining refill authorizations from prescribers.
- Medication Reconciliation: Assisting pharmacists in medication reconciliation by collecting and verifying patients' medication histories.
- Reports: Generate weekly and monthly reporting in Microsoft Office for Physician Groups as well as the pharmacy.
- Compliance Packaging: Assisting with compliance packaging and other clinical services.
- Other Tasks: Performing other duties as assigned.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in using pharmacy software Primecare/QS1, DocuTrack, and PioneerRx computer systems.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately process information and maintain accurate records.
- Customer Service Skills: Ability to provide excellent customer service and build rapport with patients and physician groups.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to prescriptions and patient care.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products to generate reports needed for specific physician and pharmacy groups.
