What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Lead position at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park?
Position Description: Responsible for Food & Beverage BOH Staff. Will assist Kitchen Supervisor and Manger with leading and guiding back of house employees.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and guide all BOH F&B employees.
- Maintain an active Food Manager Certificate on File.
- Work with Restaurant/Retail Manager to determine staffing needs and ensure adequate employee coverage while working within labor budget. Create weekly schedules to meet customer and business needs.
- Supervise training of all cook staff.
- Be proficient at all F&B positions. Lead by example and maintain a strong presence in all F&B locations.
- Check for quality & timeliness of all food in the kitchens. Ensure all customers receive an excellent meal and service while at GCAP.
- Inventory, order and monitor waste of F&B product.
- Constantly look at individual performance to ensure each employee works to the maximum potential and conduct performance appraisals at the end of the season.
- Have the ability to proactively asses the priorities of all the restaurant operations.
- Work with F&B Manager and all Leads to ensure leadership coverage on property.
- Ensure kitchen is clean and safe and meets food safety standards daily.
- Review all safety procedures and facilitate Serve Safe Certifications for staff.
- Work closely with Restaurant Manager and Vendors to finalize menu items, ordering procedures, pricing and special event criteria.
- Assist with special events, banquets, company and birthday parties and wedding when needed.
- Complete other tasks or duties as they are assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Outstanding customer service.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work within labor budgetary constraints while maintaining excellent customer service.
- Work weekends and holidays.
- Strong math and communication skills required.
- Previous training and supervisory experience helpful but not required.
- Become proficient in Siriusware, our sales point and reporting software.
- Effectively answer any guest questions related to park operations, or know who to ask, MOD.
- Experience in food prep, cooking and ordering helpful.
- Must be familiar with what is offered in different areas of the park, including guest services, rides, shops, games and food, in order to direct our guests.
- Must be patient, poised and able to cope with special situations.
- Courtesy, alertness, a positive attitude and the ability to learn quickly are necessary.
- Able to interpret both written & verbal instructions.
Compensation:
- This position pays $26.00/hour - $27.00/hour including supplemental tip average depending on qualifications and level of experience.
- Base pay is $19.50/hour
- Tip sharing averages to $6.00/hour to $7.00/hour.

Within 2025 work the following hours and earn a scholarship! You must be a full-time student enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per semester. Scholarship will be paid directly to your higher education school.
250 hours - $500 higher education scholarship
400 hours - $1,000 higher education scholarship
600 hours - $1,800 higher education scholarship
