What are the responsibilities and job description for the Varsity Boys Head Soccer Coach position at Glide SD 12?
- Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
- Previous successful coaching experience preferred.
- The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
- Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through their instructions and actions.
REPORTS TO: The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluations.
JOB GOAL: To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Current methods and procedures for athletic programs.
- Laws, rules, and policies, related to athletics.
- Coaching techniques.
- Evaluation and appraisal techniques.
- Communication techniques.
Ability to:
- Provide leadership for student athletes.
- Be present at contests and practices of the team being coached.
- Cooperate with other coaches in providing the best sports program possible under all conditions.
- Follow oral and written directions.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- Demonstrated competency and success in coaching sports.
All out of District candidates selected for employment must satisfactorily complete screening tests for illegal drug use prior to the District presenting a final offer of employment. The position also requires ODE Fingerprint Clearance.
