This person will be responsible for safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant deckhand duties. In addition, this person supports vessel operation offshore and in the harbor for Global’s Dive Support Vessels.
Position Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for getting underway, mooring, anchoring, and line-handling in all weather conditions.
- Control lines to moor vessel to wharves, tie up vessel to another vessel, or rig towing lines.
- Perform lookout duties while underway, including watching for other vessels, monitoring traffic conditions and potentially unsafe conditions onboard, and other such duties.
- Keep vessel and equipment maintained by performing various maintenance and cleaning duties.
- Perform maintenance and construction tasks as required.
- Perform minor engineering repairs and engineering rounds as directed.
- Ensure that safety equipment is utilized and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials.
- Carry out and complete assigned tasks within the legal requirements of USCG and other regulatory agencies.
- Participate in meetings, training, drills, and safety audits as required by USCG & Global’s policy.
- Drive company vehicles as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- All employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must have a valid driver's license and valid car insurance and submit a driving record for the past three years.
- Must be able to possess and/or obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card within 30 days of employment.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a First Aid/CPR certificate.
- Excellent verbal, written & electronic communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal & team skills.
- Maritime Experience.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 24hr or 40hr Hazwoper
- First Aid, CPR, and AED
- Current knowledge of DOT Regulations
- Maritime Experience in Alaska preferred
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check & Physical.
- 24-hour and seven-day-a-week availability for the duration of the working season.
- Participate in a random DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing program.
- Ability to lift from floor to waist, push and pull up to 70lbs occasionally up to 12 times per shift.
- Must be able to withstand the following for up to 12 hours per day in all weather conditions (Sun, Rain, Sleet, and Snow): stand, sit, walk, push, pull, squat, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, repetitive reaching, and repetitive hand use.
- Ability to meet DOT, USCG, or HAZMAT physical & additional fitness ability requirements for the position.
- Work in tight spaces.
- Qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. The company will not provide a work visa or relocation for this position.
