Job Summary
The Barista is responsible for delivering high-quality coffee and beverage service to customers in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner. This role involves preparing and serving a variety of coffee, espresso drinks, and other beverages, while ensuring a clean, welcoming, and organized coffee shop environment. The Barista will also engage with customers, taking orders, handling transactions, and providing an exceptional experience that aligns with the values and mission of the ministry.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly, take orders, and provide excellent service with a positive attitude.
- Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and other beverages according to shop standards.
- Maintain knowledge of menu items and specials to guide customers in their selections. Provide recommendations when appropriate.
- Maintain cleanliness of the coffee bar, dining area, and equipment, ensuring all areas are stocked, sanitized, and organized.
- Accurately process transactions and operate the POS system.
- Work alongside other baristas, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Ensure that coffee machines and other equipment are well-maintained and report any issues to management.
- Foster a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the values and mission of Cornerstone Church, creating a sense of community for customers and visitors.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations, including ServSafe guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support the ministry and its objectives.
Education and Experience
- Experience as a barista or in a similar role in a coffee shop or café.
- Barista training or certification desirable.
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in drink preparation and cleanliness.
- Ability to work well within a team and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Flexible availability, including weekends, early mornings, and holidays.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, employees will frequently be required to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally, and more than 50 pounds infrequently with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
