Job Summary
The Children’s Ministry Service Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the spiritual growth and development of children by assisting in the delivery of Bible lessons and messages during children's services. This role works closely with the Children's Ministry team, volunteers, and parents to create a safe, engaging, and faith-filled learning environment. The assistant ensures that ministry activities run smoothly by providing hands-on support in lesson facilitation, classroom preparation, and volunteer coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Children's Ministry leader by helping present the Bible message to the assigned age group in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.
- Set up and organize classrooms with necessary supplies, materials, and decorations before each service or event.
- Help schedule, train, and encourage volunteers involved in teaching, childcare, and activity coordination.
- Foster a warm and welcoming atmosphere that encourages children to participate in lessons, discussions, and activities.
- Maintain a safe environment by following child protection policies and keeping children engaged under proper supervision.
- Help relay information to parents regarding upcoming events, lesson topics, and ministry updates through emails, handouts, and announcements.
- Assist with event planning, including registration, supply management, and volunteer assignments for programs like Sunday School, Vacation Bible School (VBS), and special events.
- Keep track of attendance, registrations, and important contact information for children and families involved in the ministry.
- Help execute various children's ministry events by assisting with setup, facilitating activities, and ensuring smooth event operations.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support the ministry and its objectives.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with children in a ministry, educational, or childcare setting is preferred.
- Previous experience in volunteer coordination or event planning is a plus.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to present and facilitate Bible lessons in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.
- Strong organizational skills to coordinate multiple activities, volunteers, and resources efficiently.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating leadership when needed.
- Basic knowledge of child safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to the dynamic nature of children’s ministry needs.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, employees will frequently be required to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 15 pounds occasionally, and more than 40 pounds infrequently with assistance.
