Assistant General Counsel

The GIIN seeks an Assistant General Counsel to join our expanding legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, this pivotal role is perfect for a flexible team player and is designed for a highly skilled legal professional with a keen understanding of general corporate law and governance, exceptional judgment, and strategic acumen. The Assistant General Counsel will navigate complex legal challenges, provide sound counsel on a broad range of issues, and uphold the highest standards of compliance and ethical integrity. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a robust track record in risk assessment and contract law, combined with a collaborative approach that supports our organization's mission and business objectives. This role offers the opportunity to significantly impact our legal strategies and operations and is an excellent introduction to the world of non-profit law.This position is part-time and is estimated to require 20-25 hours per week. The exact number of hours can be flexible according to the candidate’s needs.Note : This position has been approved for one year with the possibility of it being renewed, but no guarantee of renewal.Assistant General Counsel Responsibilities & Duties Issue spot and provide regular legal updatesProvide legal advice and support on various matters including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and contract negotiationDraft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documentsPrepare template documents for use throughout the organizationConduct legal research and analysisEnsure ongoing compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulationsDevelop and implement legal strategies and policies that align with the organization's objectivesMonitor and manage risks associated with legal and regulatory mattersCoordinate with external legal counsel as neededPrepare and deliver training on legal and compliance issuesThe ideal Assistant General Counsel will be a proactive, solutions-oriented professional and a creative problem solver.
