Canine Trainer
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary Rate: $45,000-$55,000
Global K9 Protection Group LLC is looking for a dedicated and passionate Canine Trainer to serve as an integral part of the GK9PG Team.
Responsibilities:
Conduct initial detection training with a focus in the explosive detection of a target odor.
Work independently
Be familiar with operant and classical conditioning
Assists with development of training plans and training outcomes which are consistent with the Canine Education goals
Organize and manage training activities
Maintain accurate records of evaluation and training
Work cooperatively with others to accomplish the goals of the department
At all times maintains a safe working area and conditions
Qualifications:
Trainer Certification(s) from a known canine training agency is preferred
Two (2) years experience preferred in the training of various canine breeds; experience in training and instruction of explosives detection is required
Demonstrated skill/experience with the following strongly preferred: Positive reinforcement; Clicker training; Hand signals; Voice commands; Reward systems; Agility; Group session training; Basic and advanced obedience; Behavior modification; Scent detection
Evidence of professional development in the field of concentration as demonstrated by activity in professional associations, consultative practice, participation in seminars, workshops, and formal coursework, and individual reading and research
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong technology skills including usage of email, student information system, and learning management system
Organizational, record-keeping, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of subject area
Knowledge of educational theory and application
Confidentiality
Learning and self-motivation skills
Willingness to extend self to help students succeed
Knowledge of organizational structure
