Position Overview:
The Director of Product Development will lead the end-to-end product lifecycle, from concept to commercialization, ensuring innovative and high-quality product offerings that align with the company’s strategic goals. The consultant will work closely with the CEO, COO & CIO, Sales, and Marketing leadership to drive the product development strategy to oversee the execution of initiatives that enhance the company's competitive edge in the market. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in and desire to research product innovation, market analysis, and product management.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Strategy, Development and Lifecycle Management
- Lead the development and execution of the product development roadmap in alignment with CEO, COO & CIO, Sales, and Marketing leaders in the company based on strategies to achieve goals.
- Identify market opportunities, customer needs, and competitive gaps to shape innovative products and solutions.
- Collaborate with sales and services leaders to define product goals and KPIs.
Project Management
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle. Create and manage on-budget and on-time delivery of new products.
- Ensure seamless collaboration across cross-functional teams.
- Implement project management methodologies and tools to monitor progress, mitigate risks, and resolve issues quickly.
Market and Customer Insights
- Leverage customer feedback and data to refine product features and improve user experience.
- Stay informed on industry developments and advancements in technology to integrate best practices into product development.
Cost Analysis and Feasibility Studies
- Perform cost-benefit analyses to evaluate the financial viability of product concepts.
- Conduct feasibility studies and make recommendations to senior leadership on product investments.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure that all products meet regulatory and quality standards throughout the development process.
- Drive continuous improvement in product design and manufacturing processes to enhance quality, reduce costs, and optimize time to market.
Stakeholder Communication
- Communicate product development progress, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership and other key stakeholders.
- Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to ensure product launches are well-executed and aligned with customer expectations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Product Development, Engineering, Business, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in product development.
- Proven track record of delivering innovative products from concept to commercialization.
- Strong understanding of product development processes, including design, engineering, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing.
- Understanding technology and having 3-5 years of product development and launching experience and background is required for this role.
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
- Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with a track record of collaborating across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
