Position Overview
The Reading/Math Teacher Coach supports teachers in improving student achievement through coaching, mentoring, and professional development, with a focus on best practices in literacy and/or mathematics instruction. The coach works closely with teachers, school leaders, and intervention teams to enhance teaching strategies and ensure alignment with district, state, and national standards, including compliance with Pennsylvania Charter School regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Coaching & Teacher Support
- Provide ongoing coaching to improve reading/math instruction and scholar outcomes.
- Model research-based practices and conduct classroom observations with feedback.
- Support differentiation of instruction for diverse learners.
Professional Development & Training
- Design and facilitate workshops on literacy/numeracy instructional strategies.
- Lead collaborative planning to ensure effective curriculum implementation.
- Assist with integrating technology in instruction.
Data-Driven Instruction & Assessment Support
- Analyze performance data to identify trends and guide instructional decisions.
- Support use of assessments for formative and summative purposes.
- Implement Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) for struggling learners.
Curriculum Alignment & Implementation
- Ensure reading/math curricula align with district and state standards, including Pennsylvania regulations for charter schools.
- Collaborate with leadership to select high-quality instructional resources.
- Support interdisciplinary lesson planning integrating literacy/numeracy.
Scholar Engagement & Intervention Strategies
- Assist in creating intervention plans for students requiring extra academic support.
- Promote culturally responsive teaching practices and foster critical thinking.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Literacy, Mathematics, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Experience: 3-5 years of classroom experience, with coaching or instructional leadership preferred.
