What does it mean to be a Senior Director, Financial Reporting at GLS?
The Senior Director of Financial Reporting will manage the company’s financial reporting team, set accounting policies, and provide GAAP and non-GAAP financial results to GLS’s management team, Board, and investors. This position will play a leadership role in the ongoing development of the team’s associates, accounting infrastructure, and relationships with auditors in support of the company’s expansion and strategic opportunities.
\n- Provide accurate and timely GAAP and non-GAAP financial reporting to the company’s management team, Board, investors, banks, and strategic partners
- Provide accounting policy thought leadership, working closely with GLS’s auditors, make recommendations for policy changes, and establish non-GAAP reporting measures that give meaningful insight to GLS’s financial performance
- Manage the monthly financial closing process and produce the annual audited financial statements of GLS
- Lead, develop, and mentor the financial reporting team
- Work collaboratively to innovate the design and execution of high-quality financial reporting business processes, systems, and data infrastructures
- Manage, monitor, evaluate, and develop strong internal financial controls
- Manage external audits to a high standard of results
- Manage commercial banking relationships and oversee the cash management process at GLS in partnership with Treasury, Payment Processing, and Accounting Operations team
- Foster a collaborative culture that facilitates the achievement of business plan objectives by working closely with other associates and members of management
- Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by management
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Certified Public Accountant licensure required
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in Accounting in positions with increasing responsibilities
- Experience in financial services highly preferred
- Strong leadership and communication and skills
- Ability to think strategically, deliver tactically, and build a high-performing organization that supports GLS’s rapid growth
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and demonstrated ability to set and manage multiple conflicting priorities
- Intrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectiveness
- Excellent interpersonal skills: friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, interact at all levels within the organization, and build cross-functional partnerships across the business
