Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Quality Manager to lead our Quality Assurance (QA) team at our gummy manufacturing facility. This position will oversee all quality control and assurance processes, ensuring compliance with GPG specifications, food safety regulations, and customer expectations. The Quality Manager will also be responsible for sample retention procedures and maintaining high-quality product standards.
Shift Availability:
- 1st Shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
- 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM
- 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage QA team members to ensure adherence to all company and regulatory standards for safety, sanitation, and product quality.
- Monitor and document cleaning and sanitation processes for all production and packaging areas.
- Oversee quality inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Manage product testing, including organoleptic evaluation, weight variation, water activity, and other quality metrics.
- Collect and prepare samples for laboratory analysis.
- Document and investigate deviations or adverse quality events, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure proper documentation of material consumption, product release, and packaging processes.
- Maintain and improve QA processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Train and develop QA team members on quality procedures and best practices.
- Promote a safety-first culture and report any unsafe conditions.
- Serve as the primary liaison for audits, inspections, and quality-related customer inquiries.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a QA leadership role, ideally in food production or manufacturing.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 and basic data entry systems.
- Strong knowledge of food production safety and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, GMP).
- Familiarity with quality testing procedures and equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes and unexpected challenges.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and balancing.
- Occasional lifting or moving of objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Exposure to work near moving mechanical parts and airborne particles.
- Moderate noise levels in a manufacturing environment.
