Qualifications : Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field is preferred.
Experience :
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in environmental safety, health, and sustainability management.
In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard communication, accident investigation, and safety training methodologies.
Familiarity with PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management Program).
Skills :
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively to diverse groups, including managers, clients, and employees.
Ability to analyze and interpret technical documents, governmental regulations, and professional journals.
Proficiency with standard computer applications.
A commitment to fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and safety excellence.
Summary :
This position is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to advance the safety and health culture at the plant. As a key member of the Plant Management Team, the Safety Leader will champion continuous improvement initiatives, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and foster a proactive approach to creating a sustainable, safe, and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Strategic Leadership and Safety Culture :
Develop a proactive safety strategy to promote a sustainable, healthy, and safe workplace.
Collaborate with site leadership to enhance safety programs and implement new initiatives in a team-oriented environment.
Drive the adoption of behaviors and attitudes that align with safety goals and foster a strong safety-first culture.
Act as a change agent to accelerate the sharing and implementation of safety best practices across the facility.
Program Development and Compliance :
Lead the design, implementation, and oversight of site safety programs to reduce risks and prevent workplace accidents.
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, safety policies, and other applicable safety standards.
Regularly inspect machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
Accompany OSHA inspectors during plant inspections and ensure accurate recordkeeping of all OSHA files and related documentation.
Analyze accident and incident data to identify trends, root causes, and corrective actions to mitigate risks.
Training and Communication :
Develop and deliver training programs on topics such as ergonomics, emergency response, lockout / tagout, hazard communication, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Communicate updates to safety policies, procedures, and best practices to management and team members.
Promote engagement and accountability for safety at all levels of the organization.
Incident Management and Continuous Improvement :
Investigate safety-related incidents, compile reports, and recommend corrective actions.
Conduct regular safety inspections, procedural audits, and on-the-spot corrective actions when required.
Measure the effectiveness of safety programs and identify opportunities for improvement.
Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and consistency in safety practices.
