POSITION SUMMARY:

Serves the church by managing the care and maintenance of the church building, grounds, and equipment. To oversee the day-to-day and long-term maintenance and operation of the church. When necessary, the Maintenance Manager will assume the responsibilities of the Property Manager in their absence. The position averages 20 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

Facility Maintenance & Security:

  • Oversee the daily operations and care of the church and its property.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks in the sanctuary, chapel, Fellowship Hall, offices, preschool, meeting rooms, and outdoor entryways.
  • Ensure all church and preschool entrances are properly opened and secured as needed.

Event Set-Up & Breakdown:

  • Coordinate and execute set-up and breakdown for church services, events, and activities.
  • Assist with event needs for non-church groups, the preschool, and other organizations using church facilities.

Emergency Janitorial Needs & General Repairs:

  • Serve as the first responder to urgent maintenance or janitorial issues, including leaks, spills, and biohazard cleanup (e.g., vomit).
  • Perform light repairs, painting, and minor installations as needed, particularly for the preschool and church property.

Vendor Management:

  • Contact and monitor church-approved vendors for repairs, maintenance, and cleaning services.
  • Order and receive supplies for Sacred Grounds, maintenance, and restrooms.

Grounds & Parking Lot Maintenance:

  • Ensure the exterior grounds and parking lot are free from trash and debris.
  • Assist with minor landscaping tasks as needed.

Collaboration & Property Team Support:

  • Work with Property Team members to support maintenance tasks and facility improvements.
  • Assist with other facility-related duties as requested by the Lead Pastor or Church Council.

A candidate should possess:

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
  • Interact professionally and effectively with staff, church members, preschool personnel, vendors, and event organizers.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to provide clear instructions, updates, and reports.
  • Capable of explaining maintenance procedures and safety protocols to various groups.
  • Comfortable addressing concerns, resolving issues, and working collaboratively with teams.
  • Math Ability:
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Proficiency in making accurate measurements for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Capable of analyzing and troubleshooting maintenance issues, identifying solutions, and implementing repairs efficiently.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

A qualified candidate must be able to work in an ever-changing work environment with staff and the appointed Property Team members. Previous maintenance and janitorial experience is required. Candidate must submit all required background clearances before hiring.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 18 – 20 per week

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
