Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Management
· Manage the accounting and finance operations and oversee all accounting activities, including cash receipts, disbursements, payroll, and monthly closing.
· Supervise, mentor and coach team members, engaging in effective management practices that ensure a healthy workplace and culture.
· Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, Board of Directors and other stakeholders.
· Contribute to the design and implementation of new grants administration and effort tracking processes.
· Build expertise in and expand the capabilities of our accounting software and tools.
· Assist with the organization’s annual budget process.
· Oversee successful execution of organizational audits and tax return preparation.
· Ensure high quality, timely financial report materials for research and foundation grants. Provide custom reports and analysis to the research and development teams as requested.
· Ensure ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local tax filings, reporting regulations, and form filings.
· Mitigate risk by ensuring strong internal controls and backup for all essential functions.
· Manage cash flow and provide projections.
· Oversee document retention of financial records and contracts.
· Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, emphasizing communication, responsiveness and problem solving.
· Assist with or lead special projects as needed to support the organization’s growth.
Human Resources and Administration
· Oversee benefits administration.
· Oversee and ensure maximum efficiency of GMGI’s risk management and insurance programs.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
· B.A. in accounting, finance, business or equivalent; MBA/CPA a plus.
· 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in finance/accounting; ideally in a non-profit setting.
· Proven expertise in non-profit accounting and budgeting.
Other Requirements:
· Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
· Experience using fund accounting software, including grant accounting, tracking and reporting.
· Ability to implement operational systems, policies, and procedures.
· Team player with a positive attitude.
· Technology savvy with knowledge of accounting and reporting software.
