Engineering/Computer Science Teacher - Middle School
QUALIFICATIONS:
Holds or is eligible for a N.J. Instructional Certificate Teacher of Middle School, Industrial Arts, Technology Education, or CTE
REPORTS TO:
Principal
JOB GOAL:
To develop in each pupil an understanding of the core concepts of engineering by designing, creating and testing a product or system that addresses a real world problem under specific constraints.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilizes course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
- Plans and delivers authentic, and engaging instruction focused on career awareness and real-world problem solving.
- Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Controls the storage and use of school-owned property; makes minor adjustments and repairs to equipment as required.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in the Engineering Lab.
- Evaluates each pupil’s growth and performance, assessing each individual’s contribution to group work.
- Stays abreast of current and emerging technology trends, while also recommending future materials and programs needed to ensure modern instructional experiences.
- Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
- Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Cooperates with school administration in providing innovative STEM groups and enrichment.
- Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.
- Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
- Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship and pupil activities.
- Maintains professional competence through inservice education provided by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities related to music.
- Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which they will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.
COMPENSATION:
As negotiated by the Gloucester Township Education Association.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
10 month year
VACATION:
There is no vacation time allotted to this position.
EVALUATION:
Performance of the job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
