Summary
The Rail Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all rail loading operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely movement of vehicles onto railcars. This role requires strong leadership, attention to safety protocols, and the ability to manage a team to meet operational goals while complying with all regulatory and customer requirements.
Compensation
$74,500- $84,000 Per Year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all rail loading activities, ensuring efficiency and compliance with operational and safety procedures
- Monitor and direct the loading and securing of vehicles onto railcars according to company and customer specifications
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of all rail movements and load plans
- Work closely with transportation teams to optimize workflow
- Enforce all safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with OSHA, AAR and company safety regulations
- Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards
- Ensure employees are trained in proper rail loading techniques, equipment usage, and emergency response protocols
- Supervise and provide guidance to rail loading personnel, ensuring team productivity and adherence to safety standards
- Conduct daily briefings to communicate work assignments, safety reminders, and operational updates
- Train and mentor new team members on best practices and company policies
- Ensure team members are wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Ensure team members are protected by blue flag signal, before working on rail equipment
- Report all incidents immediately; to department manager and contact senior manager, safety manager or human resource personnel
- Conduct a hazard assessment of work area, and inform team members of safety hazards found
- Only allow team member certified or have documentation of training to operate equipment (loading ramps, shuttle vans)
- Keep up to date with Association of American Railroads (AAR) guidelines and regulations
- Conduct periodic safety and AAR audits
- Address performance issues and recommend corrective actions when necessary
- Maintain communication with rail carriers, logistics providers, and customers regarding loading schedules and any potential issues
- Provide regular reports to management regarding rail loading performance
- Ad hoc duties as assigned
- Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
- High School Diploma/GED Required
- Associates Degree Preferred
- 5 -8 years of experience in Rail Operations Required
- 6-9 years of experience in Rail Operations and/or Rail Car Movement Preferred
- Valid Driver's License Required

- The position is based out of the Port Hueneme, CA office at a plant manufacturing/warehousing environment.
