Summary
The VPC Inspector Trainer will assist in training on the process of interior and exterior vehicle inspection and apply it to the appropriate vehicles and ensure a safe and accident-free work environment. This position is also responsible to assist on completing audits on team members and the PIO process. Daily inspection and/or processing functions with the VPC department in order to insure a quality vehicle is being shipped.
Responsibilities
- Assist in properly assigning team members to scanner, driver, carwash positions for efficient vehicle movement into inspection area.
- Ensure vehicle movement/runway protocol procedures are moving in a timely manner
- Provide orientation and training to new employees regarding proper work procedures, hazard communication standards and safe work practices in the absence of the VPC Supervisor or Manager.
- Train on procedures to inspect vehicles according to customer standards (hot items, IQS materials, lemon laws, radio stickers, window stickers, bumper strengths).
- Knowledge of all KMA/HMA vehicles including parts and terminology.
- Maintain adequate inventory for PIO's and throw-ins at car wash entrance
- Ensure Battery tests are completed.
- Maintain quality and efficiency standards and immediately communicate quality concerns to Supervisor or Manager
- Assist with providing guidance and technical support to team members regarding changing work procedures, safety precautions
- Assist in overseeing and supporting all inspection campaigns providing detailed tracking of staff
- Ensure that inspector issues in the issue lane are completed
- All scanners are charging at the end of the day and information is uploaded
- Fleet Prep
- Drive vehicles in and out of VPC
Follow all safety and compliance standards
• Observe all safety precautions, while working in the production work area.
• Maintain a clean and hazard free work environment and follows all policies and procedures regarding safety.
• Follow all safety procedures and bring all violations to the attention of management.
Other duties as assigned
May have to work in other departments to help maintain daily production goals
Qualifications
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
- Must be willing and able to cross-train in other departmental needs
- Requires flexibility with schedule including break times as well as working extended hours, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to read and write
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to use/operate a two-way radio
- Ability to drive both automatic and straight shift vehicles
- Ability to record and verify numbers 17 characters in length
- Must have demonstrated mechanical abilities
- Must have a general knowledge of automobile components
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma/G.E.D
- Must hold a valid state-issued driver's license without restrictions
- 1 year of experience required OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experienced in mechanical, installation experience in a port-processing environment preferred
