Safety Assistant Manager (VPC)
Oversee HS&E program to ensure proper training of all employees, subcontractors, and associates to ensure a safe workplace. Assure compliance for VPC site by conducting audits, identifying and mitigating potential safety hazards, implementing safety policies and procedures, conducting safety training, and investigating workplace accidents and near misses to prevent recurrence. Support polices to align with ISO, OSHA, DOT, AAR, and all government rules and regulations.
Department: Vehicle Processing Center (VPC)
Reports To: VPC Sr. Operations Manager
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM-3:00 PM (Rotating weekends and overtime may be required)
Location: Ellabell, GA 31308
Responsibilities for a Safety Assistant Manager:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive safety training program for general safe work practices and specific instruction for unique jobs.
- Conduct internal safety audits as needed to ensure compliance with key regulatory standards.
- Lead major investigations and analyze incidents, accidents, and violations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee all environmental processes to ensure proper waste management and minimization practices in accordance to requirements.
- Prepares and maintains required environmental permits and submit associated regulatory and safety reports.
- Monitor & evaluate compliance with DOT regulations with vehicle inspections, driver qualifications, drug & alcohol testing, & maintenance.
- Audit safety programs for effectiveness and report out issues to support minimizing overall workers' compensation costs.
- Maintain logs and record keeping required by OSHA to support Worker's Compensation insurance reporting.
- Schedule quarterly inspections of emergency response system, fire alarm, and sprinkler system to meet local-state-and federal standard
- Manage OSHA, ISO, Worker's Compensation, and HS&E training programs.
- Create, maintain, and retrieve documents needed to renew annual ISO certifications.
- Monitor our Return to Work program in an effort to reduce lost time resulting from work-related injuries.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications for a Safety Assistant Manager:
- Bachelors Degree
- 3 years’ experience in a HS&E roll or equivalent education emphasizing HS&E training.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills required. Experience with MS systems.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking ability required.
- Ability to carry out the duties for which you are teaching (driving, rail yard loading, equipment operations, mechanical operations understanding).
- Ability to develop a working improvement plan and reporting with documentation.
- Good investigative skills to establish root cause analysis reports with countermeasures.

The estimated base salary range for this job is $81,200-$85,900. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that GLOVIS EA reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel.
